Trinity-Chiesi launches CFC-free beclometasone MDI

Trinity-Chiesi has launched Clenil Modulite, a CFC-free metered dose inhaler delivering 50, 100, 200 or 250 microgram beclometasone dipropionate per actuation for the prevention of asthma in adults and children.

The bioavailability of beclometasone delivered by Clenil Modulite is the same as that delivered by CFC-propelled beclometasone MDIs. Consequently, when transferring patients from a CFC-propelled MDI to Clenil Modulite, there is no need to adjust the dose.

As the bioavailability of different makes of CFC-free beclometasone MDIs varies, doctors are advised to prescribe such products by brand name to ensure that patients receive the same product and the correct dose each time.
