Respimat - new Spiriva delivery device

Spiriva (tiotropium) is now available in a new delivery device called Spiriva Respimat.

The Respimat propellant-free device is a soft mist inhaler that produces a slow-moving, long-lasting aerosol cloud. The high fine particle fraction generated by Respimat is reported to improve deposition of the drug in the lungs.

Spiriva Respimat, like Spiriva delivered via the HandiHaler, is indicated as a maintenance bronchodilator treatment to relieve the symptoms of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).

Spiriva delivered via the HandiHaler remains available. The Respimat device and a 60-puff cartridge costs £37.62.
