Preservative-free timolol eye drops available in multi-dose bottle

Eysano (timolol) differs from other preservative-free formulations of the topical beta-blocker because it is presented in a 5ml multi-dose device.

The bottle features a dropper with a one-way valve to ensure that no contaminated liquid can be reintroduced after a drop has been dispensed, thereby preventing bacterial contamination over the 28-day in-use shelf-life.

In addition, silver is incorporated within the nozzle top and cap to prevent bacterial contamination of any residual solution which may remain on the tip. As a result Eysano should not be used in patients with a history of contact hypersensitivity to silver.

Eysano is indicated for use in adults with ocular hypertension or chronic open-angle glaucoma, including aphakic patients, and in some adults with secondary glaucoma. It is available in two strengths, 0.25% and 0.5%.
