NovoPen 4 is being phased out and replaced by NovoPen 5, Novo Nordisk has advised in a letter to healthcare professionals.

The NovoPen 5 device delivers 1–60 units of insulin in one-unit increments and has a built-in memory function recording the last dose in units and the time since the last dose. The reusable insulin pen is compatible with the 3ml Penfill cartridge presentations of Insulatard, Levemir, NovoMix 30, NovoRapid and Tresiba

Stock of NovoPen 4 is expected to run out in September 2015.
