New oral fosfomycin preparation for uncomplicated UTI

Monuril contains fosfomycin as the trometamol salt, an orally well absorbed form of fosfomycin. It is indicated for the treatment of uncomplicated lower UTI in female patients and for periprocedural prophylaxis in diagnostic and surgical transurethral procedures.

The product is presented in single-use sachets containing 3g fosfomycin in granule form. The granules should be dissolved in water and taken as a single dose two to three hours before or after food (or when used as prophylaxis, three hours before the procedure).
