A comparison table of hayfever treatments is the latest addition to the growing range of quick-reference MIMS drug tables.
Available online and in the forthcoming March print issue of MIMS, the new table summarises formulations, strengths, dosages, suitable ages for use, and costs of products for allergic rhinitis.
The table covers ophthalmic preparations including antihistamine drops; oral antihistamines; and nasal preparations including topical corticosteroid sprays. Information in the table is summarised from manufacturers' summaries of product characteristics.
The table focuses on prescription medications; patients may be able to buy other packs and presentations over the counter. Some patients may be able to obtain products for free from their pharmacy without a prescription, under the Minor Ailment Scheme in England and Scotland, or the Common Ailment Scheme in Wales.
