New guidance on use of infliximab in ulcerative colitis

NICE has issued guidance on the use of infliximab for the treatment of acute exacerbations of ulcerative colitis.

The guidance states that infliximab should only be used in people with acute, severely active ulcerative colitis if treatment with ciclosporin is contraindicated or clinically inappropriate, or if they are taking part in a clinical trial.

A summary of the new guidance is available at www.mims.co.uk.  To read the full guidance visit the NICE website.
