New antibiotic for skin infections

MSD has launched Sivextro (tedizolid phosphate) tablets and infusion for the treatment of acute bacterial skin and skin structure infections in adults. The drug belongs to the oxazolidinone class of antibiotics, which also includes linezolid (Zyvox).
