A special supplement on infant feeding has been published with the new December 2021 issue of MIMS.
Cows' milk allergy
Cows' milk allery (CMA) is estimated to affect 1.8-7.5% of infants during their first year. Most infants present with symptoms by the age of six months. Onset after 12 months is rare and most of those affected will outgrow the condition by adulthood.
The MIMS supplement looks at the clinical presentation and diagnosis of CMA and management of the condition in both breastfed and formula-fed infants.
Functional GI disorders
Functional GI disorders (FGIDs) are very common with approximately one in two infants developing at least one FGID or related signs and symptoms between birth and six months.
The most common FGIDs in infancy are regurgitation, infantile colic, and functional constipation. The MIMS supplement covers the diagnostic critera and recommended management strategies for each of these conditions.
The supplement is worth 1 CPD credit towards appraisal and revalidation. Claim your printed copy with the December issue of MIMS or download a digital version below.
