Infusion added to Keppra range

UCB Pharma has added Keppra intravenous infusion containing levetiracetam 100mg per ml to its range of antiepileptic products.

Keppra infusion is supplied as a concentrate that must be diluted in at least 100ml of a compatible diluent before being administered as an intravenous infusion over 15 minutes.

Keppra infusion provides an alternative for patients when oral administration is temporarily not feasible. Conversion to and from oral administration can be done directly without titration, but the total daily dose and frequency of administration should be maintained. There is no experience with administration of the infusion for periods longer than four days.

Keppra infusion 100mg per ml is supplied in 5ml vials in packs of 10 at a cost of £135.00.
