Effervescent naproxen tablets now available

Stirlescent is the first licensed effervescent formulation of naproxen. It is indicated in the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, acute musculoskeletal disorders, dysmenorrhoea and acute gout in adults.

The NHS list price of Stirlescent is £7.90 for a pack of 20 blackcurrant-flavoured 250mg tablets.

Stirlescent has been accepted for restricted use within NHS Scotland in patients unable to swallow naproxen tablets.

As with all NSAIDs, the lowest effective dose should be used for the shortest duration necessary to control symptoms.
