Ciloxan eye ointment, containing 0.3% ciprofloxacin, is indicated for the treatment of corneal ulcers, conjunctivitis and blepharitis.
To treat corneal ulcers, 1.25 cm ointment should be applied into the conjunctival sac every 1 to 2 hours for 2 days, then every 4 hours for a further 12 days.
In conjunctivitis and blepharitis the ointment is applied, into the conjunctival sac or on the lid margin, respectively, three times daily for 2 days, then twice daily for a further 5 days.
In all indications the duration of treatment may be extended if considered necessary.
Ciloxan eye ointment is presented in 3.5 g tubes and has a basic NHS price of £5.49.
