New testosterone gel

ProStrakan has launched Tostran (testosterone) gel, licensed for testosterone replacement therapy in male hypogonadism.

The recommended starting dose for adults over 18 years is 3g gel (60mg testosterone) applied once daily in the morning. Dose titration should be based on both serum testosterone levels and the existence of clinical signs and symptoms related to androgen deficiency. The daily dose should not exceed 4g of gel (80mg testosterone).

Tostran is available as a 2% gel in a pack size of 60g; one gram of gel contains 20mg testosterone.
