New MIMS Learning Essentials interactive events

MIMS Learning has launched a unique clinical update event that will encourage delegates to use an online CPD toolkit live during the event which will link directly to the Clarity & RCGP Appraisal Toolkit.

The event, which forms part of the new Essentials clinical guidance resource, will be the first of its kind to allow delegates to download reading, efficiently log their ideas and collect their well-earned CPD credits as soon as they are accumulated throughout the day. What’s more, they can then export their notes directly to the Clarity & RCGP Appraisal Toolkit at the click of a button.

Changes to NICE and other guidance happen frequently throughout the year, causing a mass of reading for GPs, but Essentials translates this information into everyday practice and makes staying up to date much easier.

The event will provide updates on more than 20 recent clinical guidelines with case studies, and attendees will earn a minimum 6 CPD credits.

All the speakers are GP experts, who will ensure the day is relevant to general practice with plenty of ideas for audit and quality improvement.

Upcoming events are taking place in Bristol on Friday 17 June, in Manchester on Wednesday 22 June and in London on Friday 24 June.

At the first Essentials event in Bristol on Friday 17 June, Dr Louise Newson will discuss what’s new in children’s and women’s health including which symptoms might indicate psychosis or bipolar disorder in children and adolescents, and how best to make a diagnosis of menopause.

Dr Sarah Jarvis will present a session on cardiovascular and renal medicine, including which treatments to start immediately on diagnosing venous thromboembolic disease and what is the best target blood pressure when treating patients with hypertension.

In a session on diabetes and miscellaneous topics Dr Richard Brice will include updates on tailoring treatment options for type 2 diabetes to individual patients as well as which patients should undergo serological testing for coeliac disease.

The concluding session on cancer and end of life care will include insights from Dr Catherine Millington-Sanders into the important recommendations of the NICE guidance on suspected cancer and how to manage a patient’s symptoms in the last days of life.

Delegates will also get 12 months access to the online Essentials Syllabus, providing regular updates on new guidance written by GPs, adding up to over 50 hours of online learning over the year in addition to the 6 CPD credits at the event.

MIMS Learning Essentials is available to buy via the website today at a cost of just £199, including an Essentials event and a full year’s subscription to the Essentials Syllabus with new updates added as new guidance comes out.
