Efexor XL for the treatment of panic disorder

The licence for Efexor XL (venlafaxine) has been extended to include the treatment of panic disorder with or without agoraphobia.

Treatment should be initiated at 37.5mg once daily, increasing to 75mg daily after seven days. Some patients may benefit from dose increases up to a maximum of 225mg daily.

Treatment should continue for a sufficient period of time, usually several months or longer, and should be assessed regularly.
