National Poisons Information Service
The four centres of the National Poisons Information Service (Birmingham, Cardiff, Edinburgh and Newcastle) provide a year-round, 24-hour information service for health care staff on the diagnosis, treatment and management of poisoning. The information is provided online (TOXBASE) and by telephone.
TOXBASE www.toxbase.org Use as the primary source of information for the routine diagnosis, treatment and management of patients suffering from exposure to a wide range of substances and products. Information provided is sufficient to cope with most cases of poisoning.
Telephone 0844 892 0111 Use for clinically or toxicologically complex cases that cannot be answered by TOXBASE.
Republic of Ireland 00 3531 837 9966 Use for enquiries originating in the Republic of Ireland.
